It is time to kick off a new semi-regular segment I’m titling “Sports Shots”, quick recaps with a couple photos from game or sports-related event or place I’ve visited.
Last night, my old pal Justin (who flew in from Billings, Montana) and I attended the Portland Trailblazers game against the San Antonio Spurs. The game was on ESPN – mostly due to its buzzworthy relevance as longtime Blazer great LaMarcus Aldridge was returning to the town he spurned for the Championship-caliber Spurs squad this offseason.
I took a few photos while LaMarcus was signing autographs for fans (Spurs and Blazers alike – including one fan who apparently couldn’t decide). Aldridge, contrary to national and regional sports radio reports, appeared to receive a lot more boos than cheers – especially whenever he touched the ball. That said, he did his best to cater to the fans in the stands near us, many of whom had nothing but nice things to shout out to him.
The Spurs won fairly convincingly, with Aldridge topping the stat sheet for San Antonio (though the Blazers’ Damion Lillard admirably kept his squad within arm’s length).
