A week ago I promised myself I’d be making the trip to Williamsport, PA this weekend if my former hometown of Billings, MT managed a miraculous run to the final weekend.

Well, after a thrilling and rather unforeseen 1-0 win over California on Wednesday night (the same Cali team that blanked its opposition 21-0 in the prior two rounds), Billings qualified for Saturday’s USA title game against the winner of the loser-out contest between nearby Clinton County, PA and shellshocked California.

I’ll be making the four hour drive  from DC  early Saturday morning and hope I can somehow find parking. Williamsport has taken on the same properties of a small beach town in the summer, so we shall see. Either way, I expect quite the adventure! Should Billings win again? That will amount to another eight hours of driving (round trip) on Sunday. Of course, I’ll be blogging about it throughout. Stay tuned!
